Artificial Intelligence (AI) took center stage as the underlying theme among the 25 capstone projects presented in ScII’s Capstone Showcase. As part of the culmination of four years of dedicated effort, students adopted AI in a big way to serve as the driving force behind each remarkable endeavor.

“Our students possess a solid foundation in AI as it is an integral component of our comprehensive curriculum, encompassing core technologies, numerical methods, applied digital intelligence, data structures, and algorithms,” declared Prof. Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Executive Director of the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (ScII). This ensures that students are exceptionally adept at applying AI regardless of their chosen specialization or project focus.

Capstone projects are an essential requirement for students to graduate, where teams of fourth-year students in the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Integrated Innovation (BAScii) program spend an entire year developing a single project.

“While several capstone projects were exclusively dedicated to exploring AI, all capstone projects whether in healthcare, sustainability, or smart cities embraced AI as a powerful tool to achieve their ultimate objectives,” said Dr. Yong jung Choi, Chair of the BAScii Capstone Committee.

Some projects showcased complete reliance on AI. For instance, the Doji project centered around crypto trading, where students devised a real-time algorithm that functioned as a radar screening various cryptocurrency. Similarly, a groundbreaking project known as Blackbox harnessed advanced machine learning techniques in making investment decisions, thus distinguishing itself from conventional investment platforms by leveraging the latest advances in AI. Another noteworthy endeavor focused on Web3.0 Venture Building as students undertook the challenge of curating a blockchain community. Another project also capitalized on the concepts of Web3.0, utilizing Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) and the Metaverse, while Unipay employed NFTs to create a tap-to-pay marketplace for seamless commuting.

Other capstone projects ingeniously incorporated AI tools to foster sustainability such as collecting intelligent data relevant to specific plant species. Aptly named MAFIA, an acronym for Micro Agriculture Farming Intelligence Automation, this project introduced AI into the realm of agriculture. Brain for Green Buoy merged smart data and AI in oceanography resulting in the development of a comprehensive data platform that offers researchers access to precise and actionable information. Another visionary project, an AI-powered interactive learning platform aptly titled Chatp.Learn, introduced AI to education and learning.

\"Moving forward, our emphasis will be increasingly on AI and deep tech, reflecting the future direction of our flagship startup. We are actively revising our curriculum at BAScii School to ensure that every student not only gains proficiency in AI literacy, but also excels in AI competence. Our goal is to nurture our students into expert users, adept in the emerging fields within AI.\" Professor Worsak concluded.
